<i>Bacillus cereus</i>

Fig. 21:4. Spores of Bacillus cereus, strain NVH 0597-99. This strain produces an exosporium, which is clearly visible (see the arrow) and is smeared as a plastic bag around the spore (c.f. Fig. 3.). Spores of B. anthracis and B. thuringiensis are also surrounded by an exosporium, which thus, is another coat that overlies the normal spore coat. The length of the scale bar is equivalent to 1 µm.
