Macromorphology (smell): Small round, grayish and buttery colonies (1-2 mm i diameter). Do not give hemolysis on blood agar.
Micromorphology: Nonmotile, pleomorphic or rod shaped (0.3-0.7 x 1-5 µm). Appears in filaments or chains.

Taxonomy/phylogeny:
 
Only three species have been described within the genus Streptobacillus, which is closely related to genus Fusobacterium. However, the genus Fusobacterium belongs to the family Fusobacteriaceae and the genus Streptobacillus belongs to the family Leptotrichiaceae.
